East round 2

Flyers    1

Canes   4

Carolina kicked off round 2 of the Eastern playoffs hosting the "Bologna Boy" and his Flyers. The Canes appeared to be very gracious hosts not doing a whole lot offensively and allowing Philly to head to the dressing room with a 1-0 lead following 2 periods. Like all good hosts however there comes a time when the lights go on and everyone gets kicked out and that time started when M. Sergachev finally got a puck past C. Driedger a little past the halfway point of the third. That was all the spark Carolina needed as they quickly added 3 more scoring 4 unanswered in barely 4 minutes of game time. Despite 5 PP opportunities(including 3 unanswered in the third) the visiting Flyers only managed 25 shots to Carolinas 33 so it is very apparant Philly will need to find another gear offensively if they plan on taking this series and taking a near perfect C.Driedger out from under a microscope! Canes get the early jump up 1-0

Habs    3

Bruins  1

After a flawless opening round destruction of the Leafs the Habs returned to the ice in Boston hoping to continue their winning ways. With the early round win the Habs were extremely well rested but perhaps a bit rusty not seeing the ice in earnest for several days as Boston got the early jump. At the end of the first period the shots were 16-9 and the score 1-0 both in favor of Boston but that was all the good news the Bruins would get on this night. Montreal outshot Boston 27-19 and outscored them 3-0 the rest of the way enroute to yet another win. As we have already seen from this Boston squad, they seem to bounce back just when you think they are in trouble and they will need to again now trailing in the series. The Habs steal home ice up 1-0
