Daily Recap

West

Flames    4

Oilers     1

Well they say that turn about is fair play so here we are with the series tied at 2 following a close game that wasn't close! The Oilers were the beneficiary of a rather convincing win in the previous game that was considerably closer then the score indicated but this time it was the Flames turn. Despite the Flames being outshot for the game 36-33 it was the visitors that clearly made the most out of their opportunities leading 4-1 after 2 periods and then settling into a defensive shell the rest of the way to preserve the win. Of note in this one is the 12 shots on goal by Alex Debrincat (1G,1A)  as he clearly took the advice to shoot more to a whole new level.  This series continues to grind along and a 7 game series appears more and more likely. Back to Calgary tied at 2

Stars     3

Blues    0

Nothing to see here....so tell me if you have heard this before? Dallas gets early lead.....Dallas plays a defense first game....then Dallas chokes the life out of the opposing offense just sitting back and takes the win! Well if you haven't then you haven't been in this league long because Dallas just did Dallas to the Blues. For what seems like forever that has been the Stars blueprint to success and they once again executed it. St.Louis played a strong game in their defense following a lacklustre first period but the damage was done falling behind by a pair in the first. Nobody sits on a lead like Dallas and they return home looking to do the same. Series now a best of 3 tied at 2
