East Finals

Habs     2

Canes   5

Well GM Steve and his unreal run have finally come to an end in Carolina. After starting these playoffs with an incredible run of 9 straight victories Montreal has finally tasted defeat but it certainly wasn't easy. Carolina played a strong game throughout and had the better of the play outshooting the visitors 38-32 for the game but the difference tonight was goaltending. Instead of stellar goaltending Montreal got average goaltending and at this level good or average just isn't good enough! J. Binnington got the start in goal for the Habs but was lifted after giving up all 5 Carolina goals on just 21 shots and took the Habs first loss. A. Nedeljkovic came in and gave Montreal every opportunity to climb back into the game stopping all 17 shots he faced but C. Talbot was once again solid in the Carolina goal and picked up his 8th decision of these playoffs. Back to even heading to Montreal.
