Read yesterdays recap!!!! Just like the western finals this Game 5 ended with a 3-2 final score.....just like the west the home team won by a goal....just like the west the home team had to chew off their fingernails hanging onto a late lead that should have been much larger! Carolina played a very balanced game throughout putting double-digit shots on goal and outshooting their opponants in all 3 periods yet couldn't gain any breathing space. Carolina jumped out to a well deserved 3-0 lead a little over halfway through the second and looked to be home free but when J.T.Compher notched his 3rd of the playoffs shorthanded things started to get a bit dicey. Shortly after the third period started the visitors from Montreal tallied their second of the game to cut the lead to 1 and suddenly a game that wasn't close was!!! Carolina was not to be denied on this night however as they reassumed control putting another 15 shots on the Habs goal making it hard for them to score when they are defending! Like the west Game 6 will be played with the home side down 3-2 looking to stay alive! Canes lead 3-2
