Last minute Mock Draft 2022
Why even post this? There might be some shenanigans here.
| Tampa Bay | Matty Beniers | What is this tom-foolery?. Every consensus pick has Power going #1. Center is #1 priority for the Bolts right now. |
| San Jose | Owen Power | Sumit likes the game of smoke and mirrors. It was never Jesper Wallstedt. Sumit doesn’t have the patience to wait 4 years for him when Power helps him NEXT SEASON. |
| Las Vegas | Kent Johnson | Joe is in a pickle. He probably thought Sumit was going Wallstedt at #2. He doesn’t need a goalie, so he goes with the highest upside available. |
| Buffalo | Jesper Wallstedt | Jared is happy to take the goaltender. It's a pressing need in his organization and he can afford to wait for him. |
| New York R | Mason McTavish | PJ was really hoping Wallstedt fell, as the Wings need a goalie of the future. It's too early for Cossa here, so PJ is happy McTavish falls to him. |
| Pittsburgh | William Eklund | There are some Brandt Clarke rumors, but realistically his draft stock has fallen this year, even though its not warranted. Eklund has top 3 potential in this draft. |
| Seattle | Dylan Guenther | Rex hopes Eklund falls as he was advised by Bryce who to draft. He doesn't need any defensemen, the organizational need is at forward. |
| Detroit | Simon Edvinsson | Dan dropped down for this very reason I would suspect, we know he likes Edvinsson, and we know no one in the top 7 is going to draft him when they have other needs. |
| San Jose | Luke Hughes | Sumit probably prefers a forward here, but Hughes becomes the biggest dropper at this point. The only reason he drops here are due to other team needs. Hughes is a good one. |
| Florida | Wyatt Johnson | Sober Ty is more then happy to take the rounds biggest riser here. Wyatt should be a BRHL stud soon with his two way game. I could possibly see Johnson going at #9 as well. |
| Nashville | Sebastian Cossa | Finally the second goalie is off the board. Who else could it possibly be?. The only way this isnt Cossa is if Sheds tells everyone he needs more time at the draft and he will make up the pick. |
| Florida | Brandt Clarke | After drafting a F with the first pick, Sober Ty snatches up Brandt Clarke at #12, which is the perfect spot to take him. If by chance he goes D with his first pick then look for Sillinger here. |
| New Jersey | Cole Sillinger | Ken takes the best player available here, and that’s Sillinger. Who knew at 35+ pt 18 year old rookie would fall in the draft, but that’s the way she goes… |
| Seattle | Brennan Othmann | Rex continues his quest for forwards this draft and begins to hoard them like his goalies. I like Othmann here. |
| Florida | Fabian Lysell | This is where the picks start to get tricky for me. My top 14 was easy, the rest is an unknown. Lysell has a high ceiling, low floor. Considering this is pick #3 for Ty, he takes the gamble. |
| Las Vegas | Matthew Knies | Is this really a homer pick?. If you like the player, take him regardless of where he was drafted in the NHL. This guy right here is 1st round material and isn't getting past pick #17. |
| Toronto | Matt Coronato | Garrett is pissed that Joe takes Knies from him and didn't scout anyone else. He sees Matt Coronato drafted at #13 and takes him here because Tyler Boucher sucks. |
| Anaheim | Olen Zellweger | Ok maybe there is a bit of a homer pick here, but there is no denying Zellweger made the biggest strides this year for defensemen. If I had this pick, and I was after a D, Zellweger's my guy. |
| Las Vegas | Carson Lambos | Joe took a forward this his first pick, wants a nice balance and takes the next best Defensemen available. This could be Zellweger as well. |
| Anaheim | Xavier Bourgault | We get a nice Joe and Devon sandwich here. Sticking to my guns of balance, I believe Devon takes a forward and sticks it to Oilers fans. Borgault was the best Q player this season. |
| Las Vegas | Isak Rosen | Joe could go anything here as he has already taken a F and G, and there isn't a goalie worth shit to take here. He goes with a safe pick in Rosen who is sure to be a future Sabre soon. |
| Arizona | Chaz Lucius | Joel could have had pick #3 but opted to take #22 and #32 instead. Hopefully the payoff was worth it. He lands an enigma in Chaz Lucius. Smart player with a good offensive game. |
| Calgary | Matthew Samoskevich | Kevin has been the prospect king of the BRHL and isn't shy to take the guy he wants. I could see an off the board pick here as well. (Morrow, Stankoven, Raty come to mind) |
| Tampa Bay | Scott Morrow | After drafting Matty Beniers at #1, I opt for a defensemen. The best defensemen left in my opinion is Scott Morrow. |
| Detroit | Fedor Svechkov | Back to back picks. After drafting a D earlier, Dan can go with anything here. Perhaps we see 1 F and 1 D (Cuelemens). If not, we see Svechkov and a slightly off the board pick in Stankoven. |
| Detroit | Logan Stankoven | Read above. While this would be quite the jump from the former #47 overall player, it might not be that much of a surprise. |
| Calgary | Aatu Raty | Raty is another big draft riser at #52 overall. This is the part of the round where the actual 1st round picks become less appealing and the guys who made jumps start to get drafted. |
| Vancouver | Tyler Boucher | Rob forgets there is a draft and gets auto'd the BPA (take that with a grain of salt). |
| Calgary | Corson Cuelemens | Two forwards at this point, so naturally Kevin goes with the BPA on D, and that is Cuelemens. |
| Arizona | Zachary L'Huereux | Joel takes truculence here and goes with the skilled, but hot tempered Zachary L'Huereux who has a nice path to the NHL. |
| Anaheim | Oskar Olausson | Homer pick, or Barrie Colts legend?. Not much to explain here besides this Olausson pick is 100% going to happen. |
| Arizona | Zachary Bolduc | Joel takes the rounds biggest faller, and that is 55 goal scorer* Zachary Bolduc. * = QMJHL which is really like a 20 goal scorer in the WHL/OHL. |
