2023 West Continues
Home teams continue to prevail
Wild 2
Oilers 5
Game 2 of this series took place once again in Edmonton and once again it was a comfortable home team win. I am really not sure what to take from this series as it appears early on that Edmonton is just simply better at all aspects of the game and it shows in the sim. GM Al and his Wild gave up 32 shots while putting 27 on the Edmonton goal which seems pretty even given they were on the road facing the likes of McJusus and Mathews etc. but being even simply won't cut it against this team. Despite playing 2 decent road games the goaltending hasn't held up at all and short of maybe playing "some old time hockey" and turning this into a brawl I am not sure what this team from Minny can do to stem this tide! Wild head home hoping some home cooking can make a difference. Edmonton up 2-0
Sharks 3
Flames 5
See above ^^^. Game 2 in Calgary pretty much followed along the same script as to the north of them in Edmonton as the Flames held serve to move to 2-0. With all things being equal they clearly are not and these Flames are simply a deeper team with 5 different players getting their 1st of the playoffs enroute to a convincing victory. The Flames now have 8 different scorers on the 8 goals for in this series. Much like the Wild in Edmonton the visiting Sharks didn't play a bad game but are not getting the goaltending required to compete and nothing but a complete reversal of fortunes look to be able to save them. GM Sumit will need to find some goaltending quick or we will be looking at the brooms! GM Kevin and his Flames rolling like a wagon now up 2-0
Stars 2
Av's 3
Many predicted prior to the season starting that these 2 would face off in the conference finals so one of these western beasts will be bitterly disappointed at this series conclusion. At this point it looks like our resdent "sim genious" will be the guy drawing the short stick! This series is a long way from over as both games were essentially 1 goal games (game 1 empty netter) and we all know the defensive scheme that GM Junya and his Stars employ. This is a series that was expected to go deep and still likely will as a few smart hockey guys have said in the past "you aren't in trouble until you lose at home". Series switching back to Big D may be just what these Stars need but we won't have long to wait to find out! Bryces Av's looking for a strangle hold now up 2-0
Preds 2
Blues 5
Ho Hum.....rinse and repeat! If you want to know about this game then just read the Edmonton and Flames recap! The defending cup champ Blues did exactly as expected and held serve heading back to Nashville with another convincing victory under their belt. The recipe for success is much the same for these Preds as it is for the Wild and Sharks. Don't get behind and have to chase the game because your goalies are not keeping you in it....once these teams are forced to open up they are getting carved up by their competition snipers and this is the third example of this on this night. All 4 visitors have taken it on the chin and all 4 will look for a bounce back at home. Preds look to stop the bleeding at home. Blues lead 2-0
