West Recap
Flames 3
Sharks 1
Well it took a little longer than it should have but GM Kevin and his Flames dispatched the Sharks from the playoffs and are moving on to round 2. After controlling most of the play throughout the series Calgary was finally able to get its due and secure a series win over a stubborn San Jose squad. Much like the series Calgary went to work in this one controlling the game throughout and building a 3-0 lead. The Sharks were simply just a step slower and were chasing the game from the beginning, although they continued to hang around thru 2 periods they had nothing to show for their efforts. Ironically the worst period for the Sharks was the third where they scored their only goal to cut the lead to 2 but a 4 shot period with your season on the line doesn't cut it in any league. Darcy Kuemper was basically just hanging out facing 23 shots for his 4th win of the playoffs and will look forward to a bit of a break before starting round 2. Flames moving on winning 4-2
Blues 3
Preds 1
See above ^^.....Just like the Flames/Sharks, this series seemed over awhile ago but the Preds wouldn't go quietly into the night. Just like the Sharks the hometown Preds had the opportunity to extend the series to Game 7 with a win at home and once again just like the Sharks they failed miserably! A 17-2 shot advantage and a 3-0 lead after 1 was all these Blues needed to erase any negative thoughts and move onto round 2. Nashville played a couple of decent periods to finish out their season but those 3 first period goals were just too much to overcome on this night with sim darling T. Jarry facing them from the other net. Blues moving on after a 4-2 series win
