East recap

CBJ       3

Flyers   1

I think it was safe to say that everyone expected this series to go 6 or 7 and it has had a bit of everything in it. The Flyers returned home with a chance to close out the slightly favored Bluejackets but didn't look the part laying a egg in front of their frezied fans. After a very uneventful first period ended tied at 1 with a combined 13 shots on goal the thoughts had to be that the Flyers would get better....no dice as they they were totally run over the rest of the way and outshot 38-20 for the game! The Flyers have now pissed away a 2-0 and 3-2 series lead to head to Game 7. Have they used up all their magic or is there another big game left in the tank? One thing is for sure, after the piss poor effort on this evening they will once again face a confident and rested J. Markstrom in Columbus. Everyone loves a Game 7 and we have one coming here! All tied up going back to Columbus!

Wings      1

Bruins      3

We all saw this coming....everyone knew the Bruins would take this series in 6...probably sooner actually! Who the fck am I kidding? Nobody saw the "wagon" that are the Detroit Red Wings going out before at least a couple rounds if at all so to call this an upset is beyond words! After a very slow start to the season for the Bruins GM Greg decided to tear it down and make some moves for the future. He certainly didn't strip his team down to the frame and remove all his key pieces but he weakened his roster for this season (on paper at least) and was content riding it out until next year. After battling the rest of the season to barely squeek into the playoffs in the final week and then face off with the Wings it was a forgone conclusion this would be a quick exit. Well, that is why we play the games as they say! Let's not start the parade just yet however as anyone paying attention to this series knows there is only 1 reason this ended the way it did and that reason is J. Saros. Detroit carried most of this series but were repeatedly turned away by this season sim darling goalie....will that continue in round 2?...can Saros remain healthy enough with his team getting caved in around him and continue to start? We will find out soon enough...Boston advances 4-2

Habs        5

Leafs       2

Thank god!!!! After GM Rich(me) got knocked out in 5 after deserving better it was becoming increasingly difficult to write reviews for this series. The Leafs were once again carved like a Christmas turkey but this time Montreal was rewarded with the expected result. As much as Leafs over Montreal warms my heart this Leafs team was the second best team on the ice yet again on this evening and finally were dispatched to the golf course. J. Gibson was once again tossed to the wolves, this time facing 57 shots and making 52 saves in the losing effort. In the last 3 games Gibson was between the pipes he faced 45,45, and 57 shots so not sure how many teams have winning records facing that kind of rubber....guessing not many and not these Leafs! Montreal advances 4-2
