West Round 2

Flames     4

Oilers       2

This series was predicted to be a toss up and after 2 games there is nothing to suggest otherwise. Calgary went into Game 2 trailing in the series but determined to gain a split and that was reflected in the game log. The Flames outshot the home team 45-32 for the game and were deserving of the win but it wasn't until 2 third period tallies on the PP that Calgary was able to gain the advantage on the scoreboard where it mattered. C. Hellybuyck played his usually solid self keeping Calgary from blowing this open and if not for a couple of untimely penalties may have stolen this game entirely. As it stands now GM Kevin and his Flames accomplished mission 1 to steal home ice but I don't think either team should be worried just yet. Heading back to Calgary tied at 1

Blues     2

Av's       4

The saying that you are never in trouble until you lose a game at home may be accurate but losing on the road is one thing and being badly outplayed in consecutive games is another. This game was flattering for St. Louis in that when the game was close early it really wasn't with Colorado once again building a lead and outshooting the visitors to the tune of 30-16 through 2 periods. St. louis gave it the old college try in the third outshooting the Av's 12-5 but that ship had already sailed with Colorado on cruise to their second straight win. St. Louis will now head home hoping that some home cooking can swing things in their favor but in all honesty, if they can't get a lead on Colorado and force them to chase this could be a quick series. Bryce and his Av's hold serve looking like a wagon up 2-0.
